Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Warriors Group

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, evil spirits, and dark forces expanding in influence within the city.

Heads-up: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season follow below.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

The latest chapter ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to begin their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table consists of Teor (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

According to the DM, the warrior group is for players who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where peaceful solutions are scarce.

Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might look unsuited, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the party knows exactly where to head next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise started the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to dispose of.

The antagonist then cleared his obligations and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
  • Kattigan knows the region and advises that it is a dangerous location.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could help the party enter locations they usually can’t.
  • Moreover, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:

  • Thimble and The character are known criminals.
  • The strong figure and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This means them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.

Future Episodes

Based on the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight players to assemble the Explorers and Planners tables.

Fans can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
